Q: What’s This Renaissance Everyone Keeps Talking About?
A: Downtown Glassboro, in Gloucester County New Jersey, is receiving an extreme makeover. The mission is to turn the downtown into the “quintessential university town,” with the introduction of new restaurants, stores, student housing, and a town square all on the new Rowan Boulevard.
Q: What is Rowan Boulevard?
A: This brand new “main street” is a partnership between Glassboro, Rowan University, and master redeveloper SORA Holdings, LLC. The Boulevard will connect the east end of Rowan to the center of downtown Glassboro.
Q: What is going to be on Rowan Boulevard?
A: Along Rowan Boulevard you will find a 36,000 sq. ft. Barnes & Noble Bookstore featuring a Starbucks Café, a 100 room Holiday Inn Express that will be home to a full service restaurant, and a new town square park. Plus there will be retail space for additional restaurants and stores to be named in the future.
Q: When will Rowan Boulevard be completed?
A: Construction has already begun on the first phase of the Boulevard. The Barnes and Noble Store with Starbucks Café are expected to open in Fall 2009. The first section of university housing is expected to be complete by August 2010. The Holiday Inn Express and restaurant are expected to open in Fall of 2009. Announcements for the construction of phase II, which will add more new restaurants and stores, will be made during this time.
